Guess what? Podcast Around Midnight just got better.

On this episode I'm happy to introduce a very special guest. Jeff Keenan from Crinkum Crankum has prepared a fine 52-minute mix of Electronica Downtempo IDM called Trinkets and Whirlygigs that he defines as off-the-wall and outside the box.

When I first heard it, I knew it would fit perfectly into this podcast series - its chill and tasty magnetic vibes make you hear it in on "Repeat" over and over again. I hope you experience the same effect once you give it a listen :)

Spawned in the fires of a Victorian furnace fueled by burning 45s, Crinkum Crankum spewed forth onto the streets of Boston. With wheels of steel and an iron hammer, they force stubborn beats through a tangled mess of equipment spewing forth from the speakers a torrent of warm funk. They are intrigued by music of all kinds, but as a duo (Andy Ward and Jeff Keenan), they concentrate mostly on off-the-wall downtempo music. They revel in music that is “outside the box” and enjoy sharing this fetish with anyone who will listen.

Solo projects are also in the works and we'll see Andy's debut release on First Stage Underground London in June. Jeff has been busy working full time on multiple genres of music and has signed with 5 record labels so far in 2010. We'll see his debut release April 26th on Midwest Hustle Music. Jeff will also be releasing EPs in Greece, Ecuador, and England ranging from House to Tech House to Techno. Be on the lookout for more mindbending music from Crinkum Crankum that will make you question the core values of your very soul... and dance like a maniac.
